Good afternoon JAM folks! Emily here, with a post specifically for our fine fiddlers.
I promised to send a little "cheat sheet" with some info on how to play the first phrases of our newest tune "Cluck Old Hen." Here it is!

(Read the top line to know what string we're on. The bottom line tells you which finger to play.)

Cluck Old Hen
Welcome back to a new semester of JAM!
Be sure to check this site regularly, as we'll keep it updated with neat resources and helpful practice materials. For this week, students are familiarizing themselves with the tune and lyrics to "Cluck Old Hen." We hope you'll sing it throughout the week to get ready to start playing our first tune!
Check out this video where one of our local banjo players, Trish Fore, breaks down the tune. Make sure you watch until the end when she picks up speed!

For a different version of this tune, listen to Tommy Jarrell play the fiddle and sing.

Enjoy listening, and don't forget to tune your instrument every day this week!
